Raicho-no-Ren Petty Knife
This is a petty knife by Raicho-no-Ren.
The petty knife is a small utility knife suited to peeling fruits and vegetables and to decorative cutting. This piece was stored unused. The Raicho-no-Ren R2 series is made in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, and uses rust-resistant R2 steel as its core material for long-lasting sharpness. Each knife is handmade by knifemaker Hiroki Kobayashi, and the thin blade geometry gives it a cutting feel that stands apart. The handle has a Japanese-inspired shape made from laminated wood and Micarta, making it lighter and easier to handle than many Western-style handles. The brand name "礼頂之蓮" carries the meaning of giving thanks for nature’s blessings and for the precious life received through beautiful cooking, allowing a pure heart like a lotus flower to bloom. R2 steel is a Kobe Steel material and a type of powder high-speed steel. It contains high amounts of carbon, chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium, achieving the key traits needed in a knife at a high level: hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. Please allow for minor storage marks and sharpening marks.
The knife has been sharpened, so it is ready to use immediately upon arrival. Please handle with care when unpacking. The price includes the sharpening fee.
This is an especially attractive option for users seeking premium edge retention, corrosion resistance, and precise fine work in a compact handmade knife.
It features the engravings "礼頂之蓮" (Raicho-no-Ren) and "小林弘樹作" (Hiroki Kobayashi).
