Taketada Funayuki Knife

The Funayuki is a slim and lightweight Japanese knife that is easy to handle. With characteristics similar to a Deba knife, it works well for processing fish and can also be a convenient companion for fishing trips.

This knife is made from high-carbon Hagane steel and features a single-bevel edge, delivering a very sharp and precise cutting performance.

The black portion of the blade has a Black Oxide Finish.
This finish forms a stable oxidized layer on the iron surface, helping suppress red rust while giving the blade a calm, deep black appearance.
The rugged black blade contrasts clearly with the silver edge that has been carefully sharpened, creating a strong presence as a practical cutting tool.
With continued use, the character of the black oxide surface will gradually evolve, which is one of the unique pleasures of carbon steel knives.
Since the black oxide was not applied to a brand-new blade, slight variations in the tone of the black color may appear, but these natural inconsistencies are part of the knife’s character.

The knife has been sharpened, so it is ready to use immediately upon arrival. Please handle with care when unpacking. The price includes the sharpening fee.

It features engravings "健忠" (Taketada) and "別打" (Betsuuchi), and the handle also bears a branded stamp.

The Funayuki style was traditionally carried by fishermen on boats, making it a versatile working knife for filleting, trimming, and general fish preparation. The single-bevel carbon steel construction provides excellent edge retention and clean cuts, qualities appreciated by cooks who value traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
