Fujiwara Sadashige Tatami Knife
A tatami knife was made for cutting tatami mats and straw, and it has also been used as a harvest knife.
This knife is double-beveled and made of hagane (high-carbon steel). While the “Fujiwara Sadashige” engraving is somewhat difficult to read, it should be correct. This is a classic Showa-era style tatami knife. The listed blade length is measured as the straight-line distance from the heel (ago) to the tip.
It has been sharpened and is ready to use upon arrival. Please handle with care when unpacking. The price includes the sharpening service.
It features the engraving “藤原貞重” (Fujiwara Sadashige).
Tools like this carry a strong “working knife” character—built for utility, with the straightforward feel of traditional Japanese carbon steel.
Length: 355mm
Blade Length: 235mm
Blade Width: 60mm
Blade Thickness: 4-5mm
Weight: 292g
SHARPENED by a Japanese Sharpener. Razor sharp. The sharpener is in Kyoto, the traditional city in Japan as you know. You can use without maintenance. You don't need to pay maintenance costs after receiving. If any, please feel free to ask, English available.
