Minamoto Kikumitsu Wa-Petty Knife

A wa-petty is a Japanese-style small knife that is useful for fruit, small fish, and fine detail work. This is a single-bevel wa-petty. With its thicker spine, it feels sturdy and may also work well like an aji-kiri (horse mackerel knife).

This knife is made of hagane (high-carbon steel) with a single bevel.

The black area of the blade has a Black Oxide Finish.
A Black Oxide Finish forms a stable oxidized layer on the steel surface, helping reduce red rust while giving the blade a calm, dark appearance.
The rugged black blade and the polished silver edge create a strong contrast, giving the knife a bold, tool-like presence.
With continued use, the look of the black oxide area will gradually change—one of the unique charms of carbon steel knives.

It has been sharpened and is ready to use upon arrival. Please handle with care when unpacking. The price includes the sharpening service.

It features the engraving “源菊光” (Minamoto Kikumitsu).

A sturdy single-bevel wa-petty can be a fun, versatile tool for careful prep—especially for small fish and detail work where edge precision matters.
